Coca-Cola inaugurates a new computer lab

Under the patronage of Minister of Education, Dr Khaled Toukan, Coca-Cola inaugurated one more computer lab through its “Schools.com” project.

This new lab in First Irbid Male Secondary School is Coca-Cola’s fifteenth lab, since the project was initiated in 2001.

The inauguration in Irbid falls within Coca-Cola’s long-term initiative to equip all elementary schools in Jordan with computer labs. Coca-Cola prepared, furnished, and offered software for the lab, and will offer training for teachers to enable them to train children to use computer programs efficiently.

On this occasion, Toukan commented: “Once again, Coca-Cola goes the extra mile to support its community through its ‘Schools.com’ initiative. The company’s generous donation provides visually impaired students with access to modern technology and computers, enabling them to become more connected to the Jordanian society and the world.” Lubna Forzley, Public Affairs and Communications manager for Coca Cola - Middle East explained, “We believe that every person plays a vital role in contributing to the development of Jordanian society; and as a result, we empower individuals to play that role through access to computer education or through our ‘Schools.com’ project.”

“Schools.com” complemented the national drive led by Their Majesties King Abdallah and Queen Rania to develop education and computerize schools as a first step on the road to transforming Jordan into a regional Information Technology and Communications hub. The project aims to install computer labs in a number of schools across Jordan, particularly schools that are not included in the Ministry of Education’s current plan for school computerization.
