|Lanching of un ICT task Force in Jordan
|The inaugural meeting of the United Nations Information, Communication Technologies Task Force (UNICT) will be held under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II on January 13, 2002, in Amman, Jordan.|
The purpose of this meeting is to launch and develop the ICT policy and strategy, with multi-stakeholder participation, for the United Nation's ICT Network in the Arab region.
The Secretary General of the United Nations officially launched the Information and Communication Technologies Task force on November 20, 2001 to form partnerships with public, private, non-profit and multilateral stakeholders in order to establish networks as forums for addressing development issues. The Arab Regional Network will provide region-specific support to and strengthening of the UN ICT Task Force in its activities to help bridge the digital divide.
