Orange Jordan, the sole integrated operator in the Kingdom, has launched during a press conference a first-of-its-kind service called “Business Everywhere” through Orange Business Services which enables subscribers to stay in touch with their businesses effectively and with high quality, wherever and whenever, through connecting their laptops over GPRS/EDGE, WiFi, or ADSL services.
Jordan Telecom Group CEO, Mr Mickael Ghossein, commented, “The increase in communications and commercial business transactions made staying in touch with the business environment a fundamental requirement in the competitive market we see today. As a result, Orange took the initiative to be the pioneer in launching Business Everywhere service which enables Orange Business Services’ subscribers to check and follow up their work anytime with the same simplicity, comfort and absolute safety as if they were in their office.”
This service comes in various packages with different types starting from 10 megabytes reaching to 5 gigabytes and with prices that range between JD1 up to JD25 in addition to a monthly subscription that reaches to JD4.
“K” Line starts direct calls to ACT
The giant Japanese shipping company, “K” Line has called at Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) this month through one of its main line vessels “M.V. Durban Bridge”. This is the first call of the new service to the red sea. “To have a leading Japanese shipping line start direct calling [at] ACT further enhances our leading position and highlights that the terminal is becoming the number one choice in the region for many global shipping companies,” said Mr Jerry Rickcord, ACT CEO. On this occasion, the master of the vessel Captain Lu Lan Xiang was provided a plaque commemorating this call.
Bmi and Route Jordan Launches Children’s Summer Packages to Britain
Bmi, the pioneering aviation company and the sole British carrier operating in Jordan, and Route Jordan, a company specializing in overseas summer camps, announced an exciting new summer holiday package to the UK. Route Jordan provides a comprehensive activity and educational holiday experience for Jordanian children between the ages of 10-18 at summer camp in the UK during the months of July and August 2008.
The package includes two weeks in the UK, full board, visa fees, full insurance, direct return flights with BMI, two cultural trips to central London and a trip to one of the country’s major theme parks. In addition, more than 70 activities will be offered on site throughout the stay at the summer camp.
Sales Manager for BMI Jordan, Mr Saad Jaber, said, “We are delighted to launch this amazing new holiday package in Jordan. There is a huge demand for these types of programmes and we are very excited that bmi is the first company to offer this type of package.”
Director of Route Jordan, Ms Alia Nimry, said, “We put a lot of thought and careful planning into the Route Jordan package. Our research showed there was a gap in the market and many parents were looking for this type of educational summer camp for their children.”
JCBank funds al-Aman’s scholarship program
Committed to making its contribution towards bettering the lives of Jordan’s orphaned youth, Jordan Commercial Bank (JCBank) recently offered al-Aman Fund a sum of JD5,000 for the latter to use for its scholarship program, which entails tuition fees and living expenses for al-Aman Fund beneficiaries.
Executive Director of al-Aman Fund, Ms Maha Saqqa, explained that in light of modern day challenges, the youth of today might at times find it hard to sustain themselves economically. Youth graduating from orphan care centers may find an even bigger challenge when striving to reach economic independence, especially since they lack support that may otherwise be granted to their peers from family members.
CEO of JCBank, Dr Jawad Hadeed, stated, “Our donation stems from our deep felt admiration for the work done by Al-Aman Fund…We believe that our youth are the building blocks needed for Jordan to advance economically and socially and by investing in our youth, I feel that we are investing in Jordan.”
Saraya at PropertyLink 08
During PropertyLink 2008—the property and real estate fair held in Amman from May 12-15, at Zara Expo—Saraya, a real estate development and asset management company investing in the travel and tourism industry, showcased models of two of its luxurious mixed use destination: Saraya Aqaba in Jordan and Saraya Islands in Ras Al-Khaimah –UAE. St. Regis enters the UAE
The award-winning St. Regis brand of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. is to enter the UAE to manage a new property on Saadiyat Island, the 27km˜ island 500m offshore the capital city of Abu Dhabi. The luxurious, five-star St. Regis Hotel & Residences Saadiyat Island, to be built and owned by Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), will be in the up-scale Saadiyat Beach district just a 5 minutes’ drive from the island’s planned Cultural District with its Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Museum and Louvre Abu Dhabi museum.

Standard Chartered is the bank at Property Link ’08
Standard Chartered Bank Jordan participated in the Property Link ‘08, the largest property and real estate exhibition and conference in Jordan, which took place from May 12 – 15 at Zara Expo in Amman.
As the only bank present in the exhibition, Standard Chartered was able to showcase the latest investment and mortgage loan products and services present in the local market. Standard Chartered staff were able to advise the large number of exhibition visitors on the various sophisticated multi-investment and mortgage loan products and services offered by the Bank in Jordan.

Grand Hyatt promotes F&B director
Grand Hyatt Amman has announced the promotion of Harun Dursun to the position of Executive Assistant Manager – Food & Beverage, effective May 1. Harun has held his current position as Director of Food and Beverage for Grand Hyatt Amman since July 2006.
Harun is a graduate in Hotel and Tourism Management from Cukurova University in Turkey and holds a Master’s degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Strathclyde in the UK.
Harun began his career with Hyatt International in 1998, when he was an outlet manager at Hyatt Regency Istanbul. In 2002, Harun was promoted to Assistant Director – F & B. His outstanding performance and dedication to the company was particularly noted during his two-year tenure as Assistant Director F & B at Hyatt Regency Birmingham, as it was when he contributed to the successful opening of Hyatt Regency Kiev.
