Towards enhanced business cooperation between both countries: Jordan's ICT mission to Lebanon

A Jordanian trade delegation, comprised of eight Information & Communications Technology (ICT) companies, concluded a two-day visit to Beirut last week. The delegation, represented by Jordan's IT association-int@j, aimed at strengthening business relations, sharing experiences and fostering potential alliances between counterparts in the two countries.

The meeting with the Professional Computer Association (PCA), Lebanon kicked off with a number of presentations about the various ICT initiatives being implemented in Jordan and in Lebanon. "While researching relevant information about both countries, I was amazed to realize how similar Lebanon and Jordan actually are", said Mr Claude Bahsali, a PCA board member, during the update he delivered about the status of Lebanon's ICT sector.
Similarly, Mr Karim Kawar, chairman of int@j, also mentioned, "We have seen some great presentations today, and obtained valuable information about Lebanon's ICT market. Clearly, Lebanon's ICT sector has reached advanced stages and is more than ready to address the global market place, similar to Jordan."
"However, to maximize the benefits out of this particular visit, we need to [collectively] develop a practical action plan so that today's meetings and contacts are translated into concrete business projects and success stories," he concluded.
Following the company presentations held by Lebanese and Jordanian participants in the session, one-on-one meetings commenced on the second day, a step that aimed to promote business exchange. "The PCA looks forward to strengthening ties with int@j and supporting member companies in both countries to achieve success and prosperity," said Mr Jalal Fawaz, chairman of the PCA.
Ra'ed Bilbessi, CEO of int@j shared Mr. Fawaz's view and is enthusiastic and optimistic about establishing long-term cooperation and a lasting alliance between the two ICT associations.
