Dutch Agency Launches Programme to Promote ICT Exports to Europe

The Netherlands Center for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI) launched a programme this week to promote Jordanian exports of software and ICT services to Europe, a statement from the Netherlands embassy said.

CBI, an agency of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was established in 1971 with the aim of enabling developing countries to play their part in the international marketplace.

In a meeting organized by the Information Technology Association of Jordan (int@j) at the Grand Hyatt Amman, CBI expert Laslo Klucs outlined the programme to interested Jordanian companies.

Consisting of several tailor-made phases, the programme helps individual companies prepare themselves for the European market.

Klucs said the programme could accommodate a minimum of eight small and medium sized ICT companies from Jordan. The CBI expert will meet with a number of companies this week in order to select the participants.

Once selected, these companies will receive individual assistance from CBI over the coming months, including information about the European market, assistance in the preparation of bids and contracts, consultancy services and integrated marketing techniques.

Klucs indicated that the programme is free of charge for participating companies. CBI is implementing the same programme in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines.

Marwan Juma, Chairman of int@j, stated that technical assistance such as CBIís export promotion programme for software and ICT services was of particular importance in tackling some of the challenges of penetrating foreign markets.

Juma pointed to the continuous growth in Jordanís ICT exports, adding that this demonstrated the extraordinary ability of Jordanís sector to adapt to prevailing circumstances and conduct business as usual.
