Tejari Demonstrates the Benefits of Online Trading to Jordanís IT Sector

Middle Eastís Premier Online Marketplace Anticipates Strong Growth in Membership from the Hashemite Kingdom

Tejari Jordan, part of Tejari, (www.Tejari.com), the Middle Eastís premier business-to-business marketplace, announced today that it hosted an exclusive event in Jordan, in partnership with int@j (IT Association of Jordan), to enhance its relationship with key decision makers in the Hashemite Kingdomís ITC sector. At the event, Tejari Jordanís newest member, Jordan Telecom, demonstrated the effectiveness and benefits of the electronic trading hub.

More than 100 major players from Jordanís government and private industries attended the event, held on July 7 at the Amman Meridian Hotel, to learn how they can significantly reduce their procurement costs, and eliminate many paper-based administrative expenses while reaching new buyers instantly by joining Tejari Jordan.

"To keep ahead in the competitive Jordanian economy, companies have to take advantage of every market-enhancing opportunity that arises. By trading online with Tejari, we will not only expand our base of suppliers at Jordan Telecom, but we will also automate procurement processes," said Raslan Deirahieh, chief financial officer, Jordan Telecom.

"Tejari Jordan has opened the doors for Jordan-based businesses to access a large number of suppliers in the local and regional markets," he added.

At the event, representatives from int@j Ė which is a voluntary, non-profit, private organization to represent, promote and advance the Jordanian IT services industry in the global market Ė presented on the current state of online procurement and e-commerce adoption in the country.

Ra'ed Bilbessi, chief executive officer, int@j, said: "Jordanís IT sector is experiencing strong growth, and our members are always looking for new and interesting developments. The benefits that Tejari Jordan can offer businesses Ė including a vast reach into regional markets - greatly interests our forward-thinking members."

The marketplaceís managing director in Jordan, Mohammed Hindawi, articulated the benefits of Tejari. ďBy partnering with int@j for this event, Tejari Jordan has been able to inform and demonstrate firsthand to key decision makers in Jordan just how easy and beneficial to business the online marketplace is to use,Ē said Hindawi.

"Now that more people in Jordan understand just how rapidly they can benefit the online procurement model, we expect membership levels to rise accordingly. Jordan has tremendous potential for online procurement, given its thriving business community, extensive government focus on technology, and impressive Internet penetration levels."

Tejari Jordan was launched last August under the patronage of the Jordanian Minster of Information and Communications, Dr. Fawaz Zuíbi. As part of a joint venture with Jordan-based company Salam International, Tejari Jordan serves the e-procurement needs of both the private and government sectors in Jordan.

The Tejari Jordan office is an extension of the joint vision shared by His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defense Minister, to strengthen the development of technology initiatives in the two countries.
