int@j Chairman represents Jordan's private ICT sector at the world economic forum

His Majesty King Abdullah II led a delegation of officials including HE Dr. Fawaz Zuíbi, Minister of ICT in Jordan, and top business executives of leading international & local companies, together with Mr. Marwan Juma, Chairman of the Information Technology Association of Jordan (int@j) to the annual gathering of the World Economic Forum (WEF), which began Wednesday in the Alpine resort of Davos.

Held under the theme "Partnering for Security and Prosperity," the Jan. 21-25 meeting carries great importance for Jordan this year, as it again provides significant opportunities for forming partnerships that can advance the nation's economy and bring to light its untapped potential.

Mr. Marwan Juma, represented int@j and the ICT private sector from Jordan, where he addressed His Majesty King Abdullah II, the IT Governors, VIPís as well as stakeholders on the potential projects that int@j will work on in the near future, on Friday. Mr. Jumaís presentation covered primarily business process outsourcing and e-Learning. The session included VIPís such as Carly Fiorina, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of HP; Eric Schmidt, Chief Executive Officer of Google, and Pierre Omidyar, Founder and Chairman of eBay, among other big players.

This participation of Jordanís ICT sector comes as a great opportunity for business in Jordan. This will hopefully generate cooperation, business and networking. Information Technology is regarded as one of the main highlights at the WEF. The industry has been a catalyst and facilitator for social and economic development in many parts of the region. ICT, however, still faces challenges to development and expansion throughout the region.

Jordan's hosting of the WEF's extraordinary meeting last June at the Dead Sea catapulted the Kingdom onto the international arena as experts from around the world tackled the economic and political outlook for the country and assessed the government's socio-economic reform programs.
