Int@j holds the first certified information security training in association with critically acclaimed CISSP leaders

Jordanís Information Technology Association Ė int@j, and the Information Technology Security Training & Solutions I(TS)2 concluded last Thursday, June 3rd the first official CISSP training program ever held in Jordan, which was attended by 29 professionals from private IT companies, banks, government agencies, ISPs and communications enterprises.

The increased concentration on information security is a result of the rapid growth of computer networks, telecommunication networks and the Internet, which is exposing the wealth of proprietary information and intellectual property being stored on or transferred between computers. Like business competitors worldwide, Jordanian companies are aware of the absolute necessity of computer network protection, and are now seeking to recruit Certified Information Systems Security Professionals (CISSP) to properly secure their computer networks and proprietary information. "Certification establishes a consistent method for assessing the skills and competency of security professionals and holds them to a high standard of ethical behavior." Said Aiman Mazahreh, Chairman of int@jís Human Resources Committee.

"int@j continues to support the business sectorís professional requirements and has brought the regionís top information security training and accreditation body to enhance the savvy of the local IT experts that are tasked with servicing the sectorís security needs and maintaining public safety and trust." Mazahreh Continued.

(ISC)2 in partnership with, I(TS)2 the regionís premier provider of integrated security solutions and security education, is the exclusive partner in delivering CISSP and SSCP seminars and exams in Saudi Arabia and 10 other countries across the Middle East. It also delivers professionally designed End-2-End Security Solutions (E2S2) that are based on regional knowledge and shaped by industry best practices.

"Security management plays a crucial role in the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information systems, yet finding experienced and qualified security personnel is becoming increasingly difficult." According to Samer Omar, I(TS)2 Vice President Professional Services.

"(ISC)2 initiated the comprehensive CISSP training and certification program based on the Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) developed by security professionals from various market segments to address this and other growing security problems. As their exclusive partner in the key Middle East markets, I(TS)2 aims at empowering governments and commercial enterprises in the Middle East to combat evolving security threats and generate career opportunities for newly certified personnel." He explained.

The real value of obtaining the CISSP designation comes from enabling its holders to vastly understand and appreciate how Information Security fits into the broader technical and non-technical contexts of a company's operations and strategy. The effectiveness of any organizationís information security program is primarily based upon the skills and experience of the individuals who staff the operational element. For their information security programs, companies are being urged to incorporate "best practices" and other widely recognized generally accepted practices into their security programs.

"The information security has become a basic issue and urgent pre-requisite for the success of administrative operations and the provision of protection for information resources," Hisham Ayoub information security manger at Fastlink and one of the training program participants. He stressed on the importance of the availability of an overall/comprehensive insurance policy based on several axis starting with the exposure of the weak points of information resources and the use of the best technologies, plus the continuous training of human resources based on insurance policy"

While CISSP certification is not a guaranteed measure of success, it does represent a widely accepted "gold standard" by which perspective information security personnel can, and are being measured.
