SIMEST encourages Investments

The Jordan Investment Board (JIB) organized a seminar this week in which it hosted Italian Expert Marco Rosati from the Italian Financial Institution for the development and promotion of Italian business abroad (SIMEST).

The seminar aimed at introducing the investment climate as well as outlining the investment opportunities in all fields. JIB Director Maan Nsour said that Italian exports to Jordan rose by 40 percent during last year and investments reached $17 million. “JIB will work in promoting ties between SIMEST and the Jordanian private sector with a view to increase Italian investments in the Kingdom,’’ he added.

For his part Rosati reviewed SIMEST’s services, particularly in the investment field, noting to its role in supporting the Italian companies. SOFEX kicks off next March *Director of Special Operations Forces Exhibition (SOFEX), Amer Al Tabaa, said the events of SOFEX exhibition is expected to begin at the end of March next year. SOFEX 2006, the sixth exhibition in the Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference series, is expected to attract over 270 exhibiting companies and organizations from across the world.

SOFEX is the second largest defense exhibition to be held within the Middle East and North Africa. In the last decade, the Middle East has emerged as the largest importing region for security and military defense equipment, representing approximately 60 percent of the global defense expenditure. This world class Exhibition will focus on special operations forces, their special-to-role equipment, training and delivery methods, including combat support and combat service support systems, including field medicine. The Exhibition will be supported by a wide range of tactical, live-firing and mobility displays. Irbid benefits from JAPPB

*The Jordanian-American Partnership Project for Business (JAPPB) and Consultative Center at Jordan University for Science and Technology (JUST) has signed three agreements. The Center, under these agreements, has to extend technical assistance to three industrial firms in Irbid governorate relating to developing new products. The assistance offered to these firms is totally funded by JAPPB. Deputy-Executive President for JAPPB, Nayef Estetiyeh, said the idea of establishing a regional office for the project in the north region is to extend services to the available companies in that area and to ease the process of obtaining different kinds of assistance. JIB Participates in Euro-Mediterranean Conference *The Jordan Investment Board (JIB) participated this week in the Euro-Mediterranean Conference that was held in Milan, Italy.

The event, in which around 500 world figures took part, was organized by the Chamber of the Trade, Industry and Agricultural in the city. The Conference highlighted Jordan’s participation in the Mediterranean Business Center, which aims at marketing the Jordanian products and investments in the European market. Jordan pavilion in Japan ranks 3rd *The Jordanian pavilion in EXPO 2005 in Japan won the third rank, according to a survey conducted by Nagoya TV. Around 15,000 visitors tour the Jordanian pavilion daily. The number is expected to exceed 2 million visitors by the middle of next month. The pavilion shows the features of the cultural and social life in Jordan.
